Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 lean-to-fat ratio)
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (non-alcoholic)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 4 sub rolls
- 8 slices crispy turkey bacon
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, mix ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper until just combined.
- Form mixture into bite-sized meatballs (16-20 per batch).
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat; brown meatballs on all sides (5-7 minutes).
- Reduce heat and add BBQ sauce; simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Slice sub rolls open and toast in the oven for about 5 minutes.
- Assemble subs by filling toasted rolls with meatballs and topping with cheese and turkey bacon.
- Return subs to the oven for an additional 2-3 minutes until cheese is melted.
- Serve immediately with extra BBQ sauce on the side.
