Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups unsalted butter
- 2 cups old fashioned oats
- 2 cups plus 4 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 tablespoons milk
- 2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
Instructions
- Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium heat until golden brown.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In another bowl, mix browned butter with both sugars until well blended. Add eggs one at a time along with vanilla.
- Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture, folding in oats last.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of cookie dough onto lined baking sheets and bake at 350°F for about 10 minutes.
- For icing, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth; drizzle over cooled cookies.
