- 5 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 loaf French bread, cut into 1-inch slices
Instructions
- Prepare the caramel base by melting the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup in a saucepan over medium heat until smooth. Pour this mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Arrange slices of French bread in a single layer over the caramel base.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, vanilla extract, salt, and optional cinnamon. Pour this custard over the bread and press down gently to ensure soaking.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight or for at least four hours.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake uncovered for about 35-40 minutes until golden brown.
