- 2 large eggs
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon lemon zest
- 1 egg yolk + 1 tablespoon milk (for egg wash)
- ¼ cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- Prepare the dough by mixing flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Gradually add warm milk and eggs while mixing, then knead in softened butter until smooth. Let rise for 1 hour.
- While dough rises, mix cream cheese with sugar, vanilla extract, and lemon zest until smooth.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread the cream cheese filling evenly over it.
- Roll up the dough into a log and twist halves together before placing in a greased loaf pan to rise for 45 minutes.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35-40 minutes until golden brown. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
