- 1 prepared pie crust
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 3 lbs tart green apples (such as Granny Smith)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp cloves
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Fit the pie crust into a glass pie plate.
- Toss sliced apples with lemon juice to prevent browning.
- In a separate bowl, combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt.
- Coat the apple slices with the sugar mixture and pack them into the pie crust.
- Mix vanilla into heavy cream and pour over the apples.
- Bake for 15 minutes at high heat, then reduce temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for another 30-40 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow the pie to cool completely at room temperature before refrigerating for at least six hours.
