Ingredients
- 1 round Brie cheese (sliced into ½ inch pieces)
- 0.5 lb chicken or turkey sausage (casings removed)
- 0.5 cup onion (finely diced)
- 1 clove garlic (minced)
- 1 tsp fresh thyme (or ½ tsp dried)
- 2 tbsp fig jam (or apricot preserves, optional)
- 1 sheet puff pastry (thawed)
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned. Add diced onion and minced garlic; sauté until onions are translucent.
- Stir in fresh thyme and fig jam if using; mix well.
- Roll out the thawed puff pastry on a floured surface and place half of the brie in the center.
- Spoon the sausage mixture over the brie, then layer with remaining brie slices.
- Fold the pastry over the brie to seal completely; brush with beaten egg.
- Bake on a parchment-lined baking sheet for about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving with crackers or apple wedges.
