Ingredients
- 1 lb beef strips (sirloin or ribeye)
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Prepare the marinade by whisking together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, garlic, ginger, and sesame oil. Coat the beef strips and let them marinate for 10-15 minutes.
- In a skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat. Sauté the sliced onions until soft and caramelized; season lightly with salt and pepper.
- Increase heat to high and add 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to the pan. Stir-fry the marinated beef for 2-3 minutes until browned.
- Combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, and cornstarch in a bowl; add this mix to the beef in the skillet to thicken.
- Return sautéed onions to the pan, combine everything gently, and serve hot over steamed rice or noodles.
